PBDRC Club Race and Summer Party

What a fantastic day for PBDRC! Last Saturday, the club came together under sunny skies for our annual summer party and club races, and it was a day that perfectly captured the spirit of our community.
The clubhouse was a vibrant sea of black and yellow, decked out with balloons and banners, creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere from the moment members arrived. The excitement was palpable as, at 10 AM, names were drawn from a hat to form the random quad crews for the main event.
With crews assembled, the racing got underway. The course was a classic 500-meter dash from Newcastle Draw Dock back to the club, with a helpful flood tide giving every boat a swift push towards the finish line. The racing was spirited, friendly, and full of laughs – exactly what a club race should be!
After some incredibly close finishes, one crew powered through to claim victory. A huge congratulations to our deserving winners: Swampy in bow, Charlotte setting a formidable rhythm at stroke, and the powerhouse engine room of Cory and Simon.
The well-earned prizes were presented by our very own Joseph, who was impeccably turned out for the occasion in the appropriate formal attire, complete with the club tie!
With the on-water action concluded, the celebrations truly began. The party lasted well into the afternoon, with members sharing stories from the races and enjoying a brilliant day together.
A massive thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to all who came down to race, cheer, and celebrate. It’s days like this that make our club so special.
See you all on the water!
