Poplar had the absolute best outcome possible at the Chiswick Regatta today, bringing home the hardware and showcasing incredible club depth on the water.

Men’s Open Single Sculls: Securing the Trophy

Joseph Chesney secured a fantastic victory in the Open Single Sculls. After advancing through the first round on a technicality (due to an opposition disqualification), Joseph didn’t leave anything to chance in the final. He put in a valiant, hard-fought effort to cross the finish line and proudly claim the trophy for PBDRC.

Women’s Single Sculls: An All-Poplar Final

The Women’s Single Sculls event was a masterclass from Poplar. Both Andrea and Charlotte very comfortably won their respective semi-finals, brilliantly guaranteeing a PBDRC victory before the final even began!

The final itself was a spectacular, nail-biting showdown. Andrea and Charlotte went stroke for stroke, leapfrogging each other all the way down the course. After an incredibly close race, Andrea ultimately secured the win, but both scullers performed at an impeccable standard and did the club incredibly proud.

Unsung Hero: Thank You, Tommy!

A club’s success relies heavily on what happens behind the scenes, and today was no exception. A massive special thanks goes out to Tommy.

Despite having his own race cancelled, Tommy generously stepped up to drive the trailer to and from the event. Ever the dedicated athlete, he brought his single along anyway to make the most of the day and get some solid training in on West London waters. Thank you, Tommy, for keeping the club moving!

Up the Poplar! Congratulations to all who raced, trained, and supported today.
