More medals for Bob Milligan at the Euro Masters Regatta
Poplar’s Bob Milligan faced a daunting challenge at the Euro Masters Regatta in Munich, arriving at his hotel only hours before competing in the Masters H (70+) single sculls. Despite the late arrival, Milligan secured a dominant victory in the heat, qualifying for the Trophy final. For the second consecutive year, he controlled the race from start to finish, retaining his title as champion.
The following day, Bob teamed up with Upper Thames RC for a composite coxless four, narrowly missing out on gold by just 0.7 seconds. However, the duo found redemption on Saturday, winning gold in the Masters H quad after a thrilling comeback. Milligan capped off the regatta with a remarkable performance in the Masters G single, securing victory and setting a Poplar best time of 4:00.09.
Despite challenging heat and humidity, Munich proved to be an efficient and well-organized host. Poplar’s impressive haul of four wins solidified their position as a force to be reckoned with in the world of masters rowing. Wearing the black and amber singlet with pride, the club continues to make its mark on the international stage.
