Poplar had three scullers entered for the spring regatta at Peterborough on 2nd June. Unfortunately, Vicki had no opposition, so her entry was rejected and refunded. Paddy had a field of six in F single and Bob a four boat straight Final in H/I. Paddy came second in his heat (time trial) after an adventurous start and settled into a solid race but missed out on the final by a few seconds.

Two of Bobs opposition decided to scratch so ended up with a head-to-head with a sculler from Newcastle (long journey). The Tyne man made a strong start and it was close for a while. Then the gap opened and Poplar was the winner in a decent time.

Fabulous weather – sunny and warm, the wind straight across the course so no lane advantage and fair conditions. The regatta was buzzing with lots of good quality racing from many clubs.
