Poplar Brings Home Silverware from Molesey Regatta

Poplar Rowing Club had a fantastic day of racing at Molesey Regatta today, with our crews putting in some brilliant performances and bringing home victories. It was great to see the club colours flying high on the water.

A huge congratulations to Ben & Joseph, who clinched the win in the Open Doubles. In what was a nail-bitingly tight final race, they dug deep to cross the line ahead and secure the victory.

Dan also put in a dominant performance to win his singles event. In a truly impressive display of sculling, he rowed convincingly to overcome a 7-second handicap against him in the final.

There was high drama for Coran, who was making his debut in Poplar colours. He won his semi-final by a mere foot, thanks to a huge charge for the finish line that thrilled the spectators. Unfortunately, the final didn’t go his way after an unlucky tangle with a moored boat, but it was an impressive and promising showing for his first race with the club.

Taran & Charlotte also put in a very strong performance in their double. While they couldn’t overturn some tough opposition on this occasion, they raced hard and did the club proud. Overall, it was a great day for the club.
