A gorgeous sunny morning greeted five PBDRC rowers to the Chiswick Centenary Regatta.

With a seven-strong competition in the Open Single Sculls (Band B), Joseph Lyu took out his heat convincingly against Tideway Scullers, followed by a solid foot-length win in his semi-final. Despite being pipped in the final, a resounding achievement for a day of racing.

The women’s quad achieved a decisive victory over rivals Furnivall and London Otters. Eleanor Viita steered the crew, Lizzy Blakeman, Amy Palomino and Taran Blyth (S), who pulled into an early lead and crossed the line several boat-lengths clear. The win also marks a victorious first race as coach for Szabi Szilagyi since achieving his coaching accreditation earlier this year.
