After two decades as a trustee and five years at the helm as club captain, Dan Bartlett passed the captain’s torch to Ben Gliniecki at the 2024 AGM. He wasn’t alone in stepping down; vice-captain Harry Joynes also relinquished his position, with Nathan Evans taking the reins. We also welcomed Ed Benson as new trustee.  Life membership were awarded to David Paul and George Bartlett for their long-standing commitment to the club.

At the AGM club members also adopted the proposed changes to its constitutions:

  • Membership Categories: Renaming categories include “65+ retired” replacing “Long Service” and “Associate” replacing “Country.” A separate category for “Apprentice Waterman / Lighterman” was removed, since those apprenticeship are no longer unpaid.
  • Membership Requirements: Attending the health & safety briefing is now mandatory for obtaining membership.
  • Wording Updates: The wording for equal opportunities, child protection, and adult protection procedures was brought up to current standards.
  • Club Rules: The rules regarding club colours and the financial year are now included in the constitution.
  • Appendix: The appendix containing club rules is now a separate document.

Both documents, the constitution and the club rules are available via the club’s website: https://pbdrc.co.uk/club_rules/
